Springtime Book Reviews

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty:  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really appreciated how the author wove together a murder mystery with the stories of three different women who are brought together in a small town and really learn to lean on each other as things in their lives unwind.  This book really kept me hooked from beginning to end.  Even though the story jumped back and forth between characters and even between the past and present, the stories were all tied together really well.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell: This is a book that I’ve seen circulating in reviews all over the web for months now.  Everyone has been raving so I decided to check it out.  This really is a story about first love done right.  All of the feelings, the insecurities, the hopes that come with being in love for the first time- the author really does a great job of capturing all of that in such a short novel.  There’s also a very dark back story that I wasn’t expecting- it definitely added dimension to the storyline and had me fully invested in the characters.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell:  Although I preferred Eleanor and Park to this book, Landline was still an interesting read.  It revolves around a woman who is given a chance to save her marriage by talking to her husband in the past by using a landline phone.  Sound confusing?  Well, it really isn’t that confusing, but there are some magic or science fiction vibes going on in the storyline.  It’s definitely different from other books I’ve read lately.

I’m currently reading Tell No One by Harlan Coben .  What’s on your reading list?

Wandering Through San Francisco

San Francisco 2 Last month Omar and I spent a couple of weekends in Northern California.  It wasn’t for vacation, but I had a chance to meet up with a longtime friend who showed me around San Francisco and took me to a delicious hole in the wall pizza place.  She must know pizza is a way into this girl’s heart!  Looking at these photos definitely gives me the itch to go back.  San Francisco is such a beautiful city.
San Francisco 1Maybe it’s the fact that we’re getting close to the summer when some type of vacation mode starts to set in, but I am feeling a serious travel bug coming on!  I want to go anywhere and everywhere right now. I have a feeling there won’t be much traveling this year, but I’m making my dream list and hoping that 2016 will be a year for adding a few more stamps to that brand new passport!
